I’m Rob Forbes — a technically curious builder with a background across software, hardware, and infrastructure.
I’ve spent years working close to real systems: metering platforms, embedded devices, networks, and the tooling that connects them. That hands-on work is what pulled me toward security and systems thinking — not from policy or compliance, but from understanding how things actually behave when they fail.
My interests sit where layers meet:
- software and operating systems
- protocols, devices, and edge hardware
- security research driven by practical experimentation
I learn by building, breaking, and rebuilding. If something works, I want to know why. If it breaks, I want to know how — and whether it can be broken again.
This Site
This is a working space, not a polished portfolio.
You’ll find notes, experiments, write-ups, and small tools — some finished, many in progress. The goal isn’t perfection; it’s clarity and honest documentation of the work.
Elsewhere
Online, I go by RoboticDinosaur — a long-running handle I use for creative and technical exploration outside of formal work. Although I’ve recently refrained from touching social media.
